RYA Yachtmaster Certificates of Competence, Spain & Gibraltar with Commercial Endorsements – Barcelona Sea School – Power & Sail
If you have the following pre-qualifying experience you can take your Yachtmaster Offshore Assessment and Coastal Skipper Offshore Assessment with us at Barcelona Sea School
These Qualifications allow you to work in the Industry
RYA examiners regularly assess RYA Yachtmasters and RYA Coastal Skippers for both Certificates of Competence and Commercial Endorsements. The pre-qualifying experience for Yachtmaster candidates is as follows;
- Sailed 2500 miles in the last 10 years
- Half in Tidal waters (so 1250 must have been sailed in Tide)
- Completed 5 times 60 mile passages, 2 as Skipper and 2 at night (Tidal or Non-Tidal)
- Spent 50 days on board (not consecutively)
- Hold a recognised VHF Licence
- Hold a recognised first aid qualification RYA First Aid or STCW95
In addition For Commercial Endorsements
- Hold a valid Sea Survival Certificate STCW95 or RYA Basic Sea Survival
- Hold a valid Medical Certificate
If you don’t have enough Tidal miles don’t worry, we regularly run Tidal Mile-Building trips so just ask us for the next mile-building sailing adventure. We also offer 60-mile passages as Skipper or Crew, by day and night.

Six is a Crowd!
Our yachts are all modern, less than 5 years old and MCA coded for your safety; we never have a student Instructor ratio of more than 5 to one. You will never sail on one of our yachts with any more than 5 students.
RYA Theory Courses
RYA Theory, come prepared - these courses are challenging and thought provoking. Fastrackers learn in modern classrooms with first class facilities. We believe that your theory should be taught ashore before you put theory into practice.
Theory in Comfort
At our UK shore based facility you can study your theory in comfort. Based in the Cotswolds near junction 15 M4 you can stay for a week. Master the theory before arriving for our weekly RYA courses. Call for information.

Yacht Fleet
Our modern Beneteau yachts, from 31 - 48 feet are also available bareboat for the more experienced; new yachts have been added each year and none is older than five years.
Private Tuition
If you would like personal tuition, be it theory, practical or own boat, our RYA Yachtmaster Instructors will take you as far as you would like to go. From Start Sailing, through Competent Crew, Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper, to Yacht master and beyond.
